Quick Father's Day Gift

I got the printables HERE, I copied them into a word document and printed them from there. When I tried to open them through the download it wouldn't work, so that was my way of doing it. I found a pack of 3 pop rocks in the dollar section at target last week, the IBC was $2.79 for a pack of 6 root beers at Target, the tootsie pops were $2.24 at target, and I bought a 8 pack of Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop for $4. I was able to make a basket for my dad, brother-in-law and hubby. My nephews and nieces are going to give it to my brother-in-law not me :)
I used modge podge to glue on the pop rocks and root beer labels. It was super easy and quick!

The Kitchen :)

So it only took 5 weeks for me to finally post a picture of our kitchen. But here it is in all it's glory:I know, so exciting right :) It get's better...
This cute little basket that I picked up at Hobby Lobby last week as a catch all for the counter, since it's impossible for us now to throw stuff on the island.
A close up of the back splash that was already in the house:
Our pantry; My dad repainted the doors white, which was awesome! The black cubbyhole's on the sides are chalkboard paint, but I bought some magnetic paint to paint over them with, then I'll repaint them with chalkboard. I'm so excited to get that done!
Our make shift table until we get ours built. I did find chairs on Craigslist 2 weeks ago and plan to reupholster them next week. So I'll be posting pictures of that next week :)
(notice the flowers - my hubby picked them up at the store Wednesday night when he stopped to pick up a few things for me, thought I'd note that he's pretty wonderful!)
Oh and just to give you an idea of how the house is set up, there is the little wall that you see above that separates our family room from our kitchen, our couch is up against the wall.
So we still have so much to do, but we got a lot of painting done! My wonderful visiting teacher and friend was an amazing help with the painting! She did the chalkboard cubby's, and probably painted half our house! We couldn't have done it without her!
We are planning on getting our bedroom done this month! Then all we have left is the bathroom, doors, and door frames to paint! There is an end in sight! Once all the painting is done we plan to do crown molding throughout the house. I hope to get some things on the walls soon too, it's driving me crazy having empty walls. Oh and I'll hopefully get my craft room organized enough to take a quick pic of it tomorrow! I promise to not disappear for so long again! Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Progress :)

So our house closed last week (YIPEE!).... and we went straight to work!

I love our back yard! It's perfect for the boys. There's even an extended patio that Brycen and Cooper can ride their bikes/toys on. All the bushes around the yard though are dead and thorny, so I'll be pulling those out next week!
This is up and to the right of the above picture. It's the perfect size swing set/slide for the boys!!! Their favorite part is the slide :)
Here is a before of our family room:
now an after, it's not done yet, my husband (with the help of my dad) tore out the entertainment unit and wood laminate (I know, I'm probably one of the few people that would rather have carpet than wood). Then my dad re-textured the wall. We are hoping to have all of the painting done by Saturday because we are having carpet put in on Monday! Can't wait!!! I'll post a pic once it's completely done :)
Our kitchen before...
I took this pic yesterday morning, it is actually done now, yipee! So i'll post a pic of it soon! The happy news is that we found a fridge yesterday to put in the kitchen! So excited! The picture doesn't do the color justice, but it looks fantastic! I'll post another pic tomorrow of it done :)

So just wanted to post a few pics showing that I haven't dropped off the face of the planet. Just busily getting our house done in time to move in next week! We are painting everything except our room (we'll do that this summer).

Girls Night Out!

Friday night I had the awesome opportunity to attend Girls Night Out AZ it was SO amazing! I didn't take very many pictures because they had a photographer there that was snapping pictures the whole time! It'll be fun to see them when they are posted! Here was the table center piece - SO cute!

The adorable cupcake display:
another click of the cupcakes!
They has adorable grab bags of goodies for everyone that went, here is a flower headband that we got (I don't have girls so I used my little boy to take a picture of it - just don't tell his dad)
This was definitely my favorite grab bag goodie! A vintage rose wrap it is awesome! I LOVE it!
I got to meet some awesome craft bloggers! I got to meet Jen from Tatertots and Jello, Kristyn from Lil luna and Melanie from Crafty Cupboard as well as some other amazing ladies! It was SO great! I definitely want to go when they do it again in June! In June they are planning on doing a night about party printables and such :) It looks fun!
Oh and I won a 24 pack of Martha Stewart Glitter! So excited to experiment with it! Overall, a spectacular night!

More exciting news - - - Our house is supposed to close on Thursday YIPEE! I'll have plenty of fun posts about the house coming soon!!!!

Yummiest Mac and Cheese EVER!

Okay, so I finally figured out what was wrong with my Mac and Cheese when I make it! I've been using flour instead of corn starch (HUGE difference)! So tonight we enjoyed some YUMMY mac and cheese thanks to a recipe from a friend! Here it is:
2 c. dry macaroni noodles
2 c. cold milk
2 T. corn starch
4 T. butter
1/2-1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
2 c. (1/2 lb.) cubed sharp cheddar cheese
Cook noodles. Whisk corn starch into milk in saucepan. Bring to boil stirring constantly. Boil, stirring constantly for 1-2 min. to reduce graininess. Add butter and salt and pepper. Stir in cheese cubes until melted. Mix sauce with noodles. I baked it for 20 minutes on 350 degrees. SO good!
**As you can tell I added Frozen Peas and Sausage, makes it SO much better!

Silly Me...

So I found this really awesome frame at JoAnns, and I was SO excited to find a cute frame for cheap, it was a 20$ frame for $6 (it was in the damaged section). I saw a scratch on the frame and thought that was the damage, but nope, the problem was no glass. Of course, I didn't realize this until last night when I tried to put the print in that I ordered and realized it wouldn't work because there was no glass. Yup, pretty sad! I can't believe I didn't think about there being glass in the frame! So HERE is what I was going to do. But now I need to go find another frame :( It'll be awesome once I find one!

I ordered a print of our Prophet and Apostles (which you can download from the link above), then I was going to write in the topics of all their conference talks and place it on the wall as a constant reminder. Which I think is such an awesome idea!

My new Blender!

I was SO SO SO excited when I went to target on Thursday and found this awesome blender! I've been eying it for 2 months! About 2 months ago I saw this for 30 percent off at Target, I was determined not to buy it until it goes 75% off. It's been very tempting to buy it at 50%, but this whole budgeting thing means I have to be careful with money, so I was good and didn't buy it. I actually was worried I might not get one, then wham! I walk into Target and there they have 2 of these beauties left for 15$!!! Wahoo! I was so excited! I had wanted a black one, but hey, red will work too :)
